The Rapid Development Paradigm

A while back I realized that what I needed wasn’t better ideas or better art for my games, but more experience and in hopes of attaining said experience I’ve taken to a new development strategy called rapid development.  My current plan is to produce a new, small game every 6 months (tentatively June and December).  Though this game won’t lead directly to the development of the next great fantasy epic, it will give me a portfolio, lots of experiance and the chance to work with lots of ideas as I’m discovering my own artistic, coding, and design style.  The general development guideline is as follows.

  • Month 1: Brainstorming/Engine Development
  • Month 2: Engine Polish/ Engine Testing
  • Month 3, 4, & 5: Game Content Building
  • Month 6: Testing and Release
